Alas, I feel I always need a KJV or ASV nearby, if only for their clear pronoun usage. As a lover of Bible history, I think of the Revised Standard Version as an extremely important translation that had a big part in shaping the current landscape of Bible publication, and for that reason alone, I love that Schuyler has created a gorgeous edition of the RSV that honors its legacy. Im finding the differences between this RSV and the RSV 2nd Catholic edition to be minimal for the most part. The translation committee attempted to stay as close as possible to its rich Tyndale-King James heritage. With all the high quality materials that make up this bible, the beauty of the printed page stands out. The best part of this Bible, where it distinguishes itself from most others on the market, is the page layout. Overall this is a minor difference, and I think it will vary a lot based on personal taste. It is accurate, elegant, and eminently readable. If you plan on stacking this Bible with other editions, it may be best to place it on top of the stack to prevent the stack from tilting. Their forthcoming RSV will be their first attempt at publishing a bible with the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books. The apocrypha is a selection of books which were published in the original 1611 King James Bible. Well, that would be true, but it contains all the books in the Catholic canon (as well as the Orthodox ones) with the inclusion of the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical section at the back of the bible, much like the beloved NOAB w/Expanded Apocrypha.
